United Nations Day 2024 Commemorated in Iran with a Moving Musical Performance
On October 28, 2024, Tehran hosted the official commemoration of United Nations Day, celebrating the UN Charter’s implementation in 1945. The event, held at the Center for Political and International Studies (IPIS), gathered over 200 attendees, including diplomats, government officials, and UN representatives.
During the ceremony, Dr. Kazem Gharib Abadi emphasized Iran’s commitment as a founding member of the UN to fostering multilateralism and global cooperation. Meanwhile, UN Resident Coordinator Stefan Priesner highlighted the organization’s ongoing efforts to uphold peace, equality, and human rights despite the world’s pressing challenges.
A particularly memorable moment was the live musical performance by Aryan Rezaee and Fariborz Najafi, dedicated to children and civilians impacted by global conflicts. The performance resonated deeply with the audience, serving as a poignant reminder that civilians should never be targets in times of war.
In addition to speeches and performances, the event included video messages from UN Secretary-General António Guterres and a UN 2.0 exhibition showcasing innovative approaches to sustainable development.
